Yet another team has teased me with the promise of immortal, championship glory, only to be replaced by bloodcurdling sounds of strangulation, and the body of my team found face down in a ditch.
First it was the Trojans, who dug deep and found a way to end their 35-game home winning streak to Stanford in October, losing their #1 ranking along the way.
Then in January my beloved ‘Boys pissed away a 13-3 season and home-field advantage in the playoffs by losing to the fucking Giants of all teams (a team they throttled twice in the regular season).
Last night the Lakers decided to make their own bid for Biggest Chokes Ever by blowing a 24-point lead in the first half and losing at home to the Celtics. They’re now down 3-1 in the NBA Finals and would have to win every single remaining game to win the series.
With the way they played yesterday though, they should simply forfeit Game 5 at Staples. The Lakers deserve to lose this fucking series.
“We just wet the bed,” Kobe said. “A nice big one, too. One of the ones you can’t put a towel over. It was terrible.”
Hopefully that big wet spot keeps the Lakers from sleeping during the off-season.
I never thought I’d find myself agreeing with Adolf Hitler:

The top-seeded team in the NFC has just lost to the New York Giants, 21 – 17. A team that went 13-3 during the regular season, earned a first-round bye in the playoffs and was guaranteed home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
Ugh.
I was going to write more but I’m so purely disgusted. This was a Giants team that wasn’t even fielding its two starting cornerbacks against the vaunted Cowboy receivers — Terrell Owens, Terry Glenn, Patrick Crayton and of course Jason Witten. What’s even crazier is that Terry Glenn, their number two receiver, has been out all season, and Romo still managed to throw 36 touchdown passes. The ‘Boys should have taken apart that Giant secondary like they have twice before during the regular season. It was just a dismal effort. No blocking. Tons of dropped passes. No rhythm on offense. And a couple of big mistakes by Romo (although all in all he had an average game). God this weekend fucking sucked!

The Cowboys stunned the New York Giants last night in the Meadowlands, 35 – 32 as Billy Cundiff kicked his NFL record-tying 7th field goal to put the ‘Boyz ahead.
Definitely one of the best Monday night games I’ve ever seen. Quincy Carter became a man tonight.
