Boy, I’ve been having a lotta fun in there lately.
“…issues? i’ll rattle a few off…
1 – government benefits for legal immigrants
2 – a unified position on affirmative action
3 – quotas on asians at universities…dealing with standardized testing issues
4 – voting rights/ballots/literature on social services in other languages
5 – ensure equal access to social/mental health services for asians (kinda a spin off of #4)
6 – and of course, any unified asian coalition other than MANAA to ensure that asians are represented fairly, accurately and sensitively in the media
what else…
…asians to stop telling white people that they’re racists when: 1) these asians don’t even know any white people to begin with; 2) wouldn’t know real racism if it slapped them in the face with a fucking bat; 3) should keep in mind that the system we have in place in america — flawed vehicle as it may be — is a system that has reaped *at least* (and i’m being sarcastic) as many benefits and rewards as it has trials and tribulations.
of course it’s a system that needs changing, no one’s disputing that. but what kind of change can you possibly hope to come by when you antagonize those who are trying to make goodwill effects to bridge gaps? you remind me of this guy from the nation of islam…we were debating for an hour before i made him admit that he thought every white person walking around us at the moment was a white devil.
get real. the kinds of problems you’re hoping to identify require solutions for an asian community, circa 1988…not to mention from the east coast.
asians will progress not because we’ve convinced whites to like us, but because in building ourselves up, playing by the rules, not bitching and whining — they have no choice…”
