When are the Democrats going to step up?

Why am I not surprised in the least when I read about Democrats caving into Bush’s war on terrorism?
Regardless of whether I think the President is right or wrong, I certainly fault Democrats for not having the guts to stand up more for what they believe in. Senate Democrats will continue to ride the fence, carefully sifting through their latest polls, waiting for Bush’s approval ratings to drop below 55%, and then strike with some new-found, near-religious conviction.
It also looks like Al Gore hasn’t counted himself out of the 2004 running. Earlier this year when he spoke in front of an audience of college students, he criticized the President’s war on terrorism as short-sighted; now he’s joining Daschle, Gephardt and the rest of the “follow-the-leader” crew in saying we need to be “firm” yet seek peace.
Translation? Zero leadership.
Flawed vehicle though he might be, for all of his ridiculous “Bush-isms,” at least we know where he stands.
